The Victoria Secret Angel Fashion Show was beautiful. I like the way the Victoria Secret models came down the runway with the Angel wings attached to them. The next fashion show will be again in December of this year. I am excited to see what they do this time.

Althea Gibson brought grace, dignity and power to the world of tennis in the 1950's. She intimidated opponents with her powerful serve, pinpoint volleys and thundering overhead. But she is best remembered for having the courage to take on major tennis' all-white establishment. Gibson was a pioneer who broke several racial barriers in the sport and paved the way for future stars such as Arthur Ashe, Zina Garrison, and Venus and Serena Williams. The first African-American to win the Wimbledon singles title (she did it twice, in 1957 and 1958), she also won the French Open and U.S. Open singles titles.

Florence Griffith Joyner was born in South Los Angeles December 21, 1959. She died September 21, 1998 at age 38. She was pretty young. She began running track at age 7 and also at age 14 she won the Jesse Owens Youth Games. She attended California State University
Her nickname is Flo-Jo. She became a track star. She coached Al Joyner, then she married him in 1987. In 1989 she told everybody she was retiring from track. She was a triple gold medallist in 1988 Olympic Games. She was the fastest woman in the world.

In 1994, Wilma Rudolph Boulevard is the name given to the portion of U.S. Route 79 in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Women's Sports Foundation Wilma Rudolph Courage Award is presented to a female athlete who exhibits extraordinary courage in her athletic performance, demonstrates the ability to overcome adversity, makes significant contributions to sports and serves as an inspiration and role model to those who face challenges, overcomes them and strives for success at all levels. This award was first given in 1996 to Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
To honor one of America's most outstanding Olympic athletes and her legacy, a bronze life size statue of Clarksville, Tennessee native Wilma Rudolph was hand-crafted in her likeness. The statue can be viewed at the southern end of the Cumberland River Walk at the base of the Pedestrian Overpass, College Street & Riverside Drive.
